There are some problems I'm seeing right away with all of the Blu-ray Disc titles on the BD-P1000. First, when I switch to 1080i, I'm noticing some very obvious scaling issues that I don't see when the player is set to 720p. I also don't see anything like this on the Toshiba HD-A1 at any resolution, so this is specific to THIS player, which may be why Samsung ships it with 720p set by default. Second, I'm noticing a very slight "studdering" problem. About once a second, or maybe onc...
Now it's time to look at my first Blu-ray Disc. Naturally, my hand swerved towards The Fifth Element. The title was an amazing bit of reference work on standard DVD, and that Superbit version was awesome. Obvious choice, right? Should look amazing in HD. Yeah... it should. But it doesn't. In fact... I'm not going to come out and say it looks like crap, but it is easily the worst looking high-definition title I've seen yet, and I've seen 30+ titles now. The image is muddy looking, lacking in c...
wow...thats some funny stuff....lol...thats real...wow....
If indeed the Rep at Best Buy didn't know what he was talking about. I can say this with no doubt. My eyes don't LIE. With my own eyes I saw the hd dvd player playing on a 1080p Television and a blu ray player playing on the SAME tv. They looked exactly the same. There was no difference what so ever. They both looked fantastic. So if it trully is 1080i...it looks the same as 1080p on a 1080p tv. Now thats news. WOW...And yes I know it was a 1080p tv. Now what?
There are millions of gamers that share your same exact story. Its funny. Not everyone has converted to Microsoft yet. But with sony charging so much for the ps3...Microsoft will see more sales this gen then last gen. And there will be more stories of how people used to be a sony fan boy and now they see what we have seen with what Microsoft is and has been doing. People who only stay faithful to sony are people who haven't played the xbox and have not experienced xbox live. Because just...
That was a good observation...very true...If there are 360's in stock...that means microsoft is replenishing their stocks. Because I ask every time I go in to stores and they say its selling very well. Its not frantic but they say its because of the price. Most people have to save and plan. Its easier to go plop a hundred bucks or so for a gameboy or a ps2. It takes planning for most consumers to drop 400 for anything. When you buy a camcorder...you don't just walk in walmart and see on...
Pray...while we play.
1. Pray it comes out in time
2. Pray people buy it so developers have a reason to keep making expensive games for it.
3. Pray it has more than 8 games at launch.
4. Pray blu ray isn't the undoing of sony.
5. Pray the games aren't full of hd cut scenes and sub par in game graphics
6. Pray you don't a viruses from their O.S.
7. Pray games don't cost 69.99 as reported
8. Pray you don't spend 600 plus and it breaks 1 ...
If 30 plus million xbox's is being destroyed.....WOW...are you serious...Microsoft was brand new to the Console industry and passed up the Greatest Console maker in History. NINTENDO...thats pretty darn good. Nintendo owns 9 of the top ten best selling games in the history of gaming. And Microsoft as a newcomer passed them up last gen with the xbox. Sony's dvd player that acts like a game console sold 100 million. Thats great. Now factor in how many people use it as a dvd play ONLY. Th...
You are correct. I have six 360's and when I go and ask questions at Target/Walmart/Best Buy/ and EB games...they all say the SAME thing. 360 and ps3 are basically the same but ps3 plays blu ray movies for a 1080p tv for 200 dollar difference. 360 will have 150 games by Christmas and ps3 will be lucky to get 20 by christmas. All the stores say the same thing. When I ask...well which is better? They say they are about the same. Soooo what will most people/parents think? lol...its obviou...
I used to play the ps2 before I got an xbox...now I have graduated to an xbox 360....sorry you are still playing a ps2. I wish I could help. I honestly feel bad for you. I still have my ps2 but after the original xbox I couldn't go back to the jaggies and long load times and lack luster graphics...and believe me...I tried. And now after playing the 360 on my hd tv I can't go back to playing the original xbox. Such a major difference. wow...now I know why you are always bashing the 360.....
Pray...while we PLAY. Its such an exciting time to be a gamer. We are 5 million plus strong and still rapidly growing. 5 games sold per console...We are gamers. Playing Next Gen HD games online. Gametime...what are you playing?
No one will buy it? Well I guess we will find out before the launch of the ps3 huh? lol...its so exciting. Face mapping, motion sensing...ect...Its an exciting time to own a 360. Oh, I had a camera for my computer gaming system years and years ago and mapped my face in quake. So ain't no copying going on...just innovating it year after year. But In a couple months we will have it for our 360's and Ps3 hasn't even launched.
1. the real point of the article is about the co-op, but the title is about the 360?
i think it's worth pointing out what he really says in the GameInformer interview:
GI: You’ve been working on the Castlevania franchise for quite some time now, do you have any plans for starting a new franchise on next-gen consoles?
Iga: Actually, I’m confused with all of this next-generation news. I don’t know what to do. I was really leaning toward PS3 in the b...
I went to best buy again today and specifically asked them if the hd dvd displays 1080p. The guy said YES. I told him about on the internet people are saying it doesn't. And that it only plays 1080i. He said that it definately plays 1080p and he said it upscales regular dvd's to 1080i. He then showed me the difference between blu ray and hd dvd playing on the same 1080p TV. There was NO difference at all. They both looked amazing. Sony blew it will blu ray. How are they going to expl...
Did you also look at hd dvd at best buy running next to the blu ray player? Because I did. And for 500 dollars less and with 60 of the top 100 movies...not movie studios..actual movies in America supported and no difference in visual quality...it seems like hd dvd is the safer bet. Dont you think?
No..he showed me the difference between 1080i and 1080p Television sets using the hd dvd player. There was no difference. He also stated that the difference between p and i is the lines shown per second. So for sporting events with fast action its a tad more stable. But not a noticeable diffeence to the eye. They both looked sharp and impressive. But you explain that to the average consumer and when you tell them it looks the same but this one cost way less. You go figure which one will...
Hd is expensive for most of the population. Thats why only 5 % has em so far. I'm one of the 5 % but I understand I'm one of the few.
I agree. And no its not necessary. But just like you see the difference in games made for HD. You will be impressed the same way with movies made for HD. Its a big difference but not necessary.
I saw a huge difference at best buy. They had a Hd dvd player playing a movie on a hd tv. It looked much better than a regular dvd on a hd tv. If you have ever watched a made for hd show....like your local news or those imax movies made for hd. Thats how hd dvd looked. I was impressed. But you have to keep in mind 1080 i and 1080 p is not a noticable difference. The guy at best buy showed me both. I couldn't tell which looked better using the hd dvd. They both looked fantastic. See ...
if I had to compare my initial impressions of Blu-ray Disc to those of HD-DVD... well, I certainly need to see more Blu-ray titles and spend more time with the player. I'm really just giving you my initial, off-the-cuff comments, based on less than 10 hours of viewing time with the Samsung. It's worth noting that we've only seen one player for each format, so it's hard to say what issues are specifically related to the players, and what are format related. But right now... I think I may end u...
